Full Treatment Range Tailored to Your Requirements

Prowater can supply a wide range of water treatment chemicals to prevent scale, corrosion and foaming of your boiler.

Scale

Irrespective of the efficiency of the water softening plant, there is always the possibility of hardness ingress to the boiler feed system which can eventually cause scaling of the boiler and a gradual loss of efficiency.

The best practice is to add a precipitant and sludge conditioner to the feedwater.  This binds and suspends any hardness that does enter the boiler before it can settle on the tubes and cause scaling.  The resultant sludge is kept mobile thus allowing easy removal from the boiler during the routine blowdown procedure.

Prowater have a wide range of precipitants and sludge controllers to suit your exact requirements.

Corrosion/Oxygen Scavenger

If oxygen is allowed to enter the boiler system it can result in rapid corrosion of internal parts.  This can lead to breakdowns and costly repairs.  It is therefore necessary to remove any oxygen present in the feedwater.

Prowater can provide different solutions to this problem dependant on the quality and temperature of the feedwater. Both high and low pressure systems can be

Alkalinity Control

All boilers require correct alkalinity control for two main reasons:

Hardness ingress will be a mixture of calcium and magnesium salts and the latter must be precipitated as magnesium hydroxide rather than as a phosphate salt which is cohesive and forms an adherent scale.

BS2486 recommends a boiler water pH level of 10.5-12.00 and a minimum of 10% of TDS.  At this level of pH, corrosion is considered to be at a minimum and correct passivation of the metal surfaces is achieved; providing the oxygen scavenger level is maintained.
