Solid bromine is an excellent choice of biocide due to the longevity and stability within a system, the effective pH range of disinfection and the ease of handling a solid tablet compound.

Bromine is an oxidising biocide and can therefore be used as a single choice biocide within the ACOP (L8) guidelines.

Bromine dosing is easy with specialised bromine dosing systems known as brominators. These allow passage of water through the tabletted bromine and can be controlled using a range of systems from simple timers to highly complex Redox controllers.
